Current Programming Schedule (subject to change)

  • Restore is a postpartum physical rehabilitation program designed for mothers of any age who continue to experience challenges following childbirth such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, back pain, diastasis recti, depression, or general deconditioning/reduced fitness to attend. It includes several weekly one-hour exercise classes led by a physiotherapist with special training in perinatal and pelvic floor physiotherapy (Jesse Robson, PT). Classes have been designed such that women can comfortably attend with a baby or small children if they wish, and at diverse stages of postpartum recovery (we ask that mothers be at least 6 weeks postpartum from their most recent birth in order to attend). The exercise classes include pelvic floor and core muscle training, high intensity interval training, and functional strengthening exercise, in keeping with best practice recommendations for supporting postpartum physical and mental health and rehabilitation. Classes include ample education on how to address and recover from health challenges such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, postpartum mood challenges, and pain and injuries associated with pregnancy and birth. Our focus is improving general health, wellbeing, and resilience, and supporting women to be able to meet physical demands & delights of motherhood such as prolonged babywearing and nursing, lifting & carrying heavy toddlers, and running, jumping, and wrangling with kiddos.

  • OHC hosts a weekly Meditation & Mindfulness group in our upstairs Meeting Room. Attendance is drop-in, with no registration required.

    From facilitator Mike Frevola,

"The practise we use is called shamatha (Sanskrit), or in English it translates to the development of peace or “calm abiding”. It is based on traditional Buddhist meditation working with the breathing process. The idea is to develop mindfulness by slowing down and looking at your mind, thoughts and emotions through the meditative process. There is no philosophy and religion involved. It is getting to sit with others in a group and getting to know and make friends with one’s own mind. Meditation instruction is provided for new meditators. The sitting practise is interspersed with periods of walking meditation. We will often have an informal check-in after the practise to discuss what came up for people."

  • A series of workshops faciliated by Kelly McKnight (RN) aimed at promoting self advocacy and building health literacy while helping individuals and especially seniors navigate the broader provincial Health System with greater confidence.
